Fight Acts of Hate & Bias - 2019 Training Series - POSTPONED
Over the past few years, there has been a national uptick in hate crimes and bias-related incidents. Recent reports of hate or bias in Maryland reflect this alarming trend, with 398 reports in 2017 alone—a 35% increase from 2016. This training series is an effort to encourage comprehensive responses to hate and bias by engaging the public in Montgomery County.
CUAH has organized a four-part training series to engage community members around the issue of hate crimes and what we can do. We held our first two modules from February to April: Defining Hate with the Lawyer’s Committee for Civil Rights Under the Law and Hostile Environment Response with the DC Peace Team.
We are currently re-envisioning the Fight Acts of Hate and Bias series. We are adjusting our approach to increase our reach and our impact, and have postponed our events until further notice. Thank you for your interest in this effort, and please stay tuned for updates!
